Although many countries do not require bike riders to wear all the safety equipment, with the exception of a helmet, it is left up to the individual rider what they want to wear. Safety equipment should be worn by everyone, because they are the only one that will look out for their own safety. Full Motorcycle Leathers should always be part of the motorcyclists riding gear no matter where they travel.
Full Motorcycle Leathers offer much more protection than conventional clothing, as cloth has no protection if you are involve in an accident. Leather is the best protection that a motorcyclist could wear. They are hard to rip or tear, the material is stronger, and have a resistance to fire. They are also somewhat water resistance to a point. Some leathers are made from Kangaroo skins, as well as cowhide.
Full Motorcycle Leathers should also include a nice padded jacket, with extra padding on the back, around the arms, and the chest areas. Some jackets offer an extra external pad over the shoulders and on the elbows. The jacket collar is the only neck protection that can be turned up; however, it is not much. The neck area is the least protected part of the rider’s body; at least until someone manufactures a nice fashionable neck brace.
The chaps are made with wide legs at the bottom in order to fit them over your boots. The back of the chaps is usually open for better seating; however, they do manufacture full length leather pants as well. They are worn the same way as normal pants would be. Some types of Full Motorcycle Leather pants will offer front and rear pockets as well. Some riders feel more comfortable in the shiny leather pants than they do in just chaps.
Motorcycle boots should be considered as part of the Full Motorcycle Leather outfit, as the boots are specially made for motorcycle riders, and the heels have been manufactured to fit perfectly on the bikes foot pegs. Unlike regular boots, motorcycle boots have a heavy safety toe that covers the entire toe of the shoe, and the boots themselves help protect the calves of the legs from tail pipe burns and they offer very good ankle support.
Gloves should also be used for Full Motorcycle Leathers, simply because they help protect the hands and fingers in case of an accident. Some types use carbon fiber knuckle protection, and the wrists are also padded to help prevent wrist sprains.
Each person’s safety ultimately lies with the riders. Full Motorcycle Leathers are for your protection, so why would anyone want to take the chance of harming themselves for the rest of their life, by not wearing the proper safety equipment.
Countries and state should not have to make it a law to wear these safety leathers, but if more people are injured in an accident without having them on, the law could very easily be changed for the riders own protection. Insurance companies may also require that people are wearing such protective leathers in order to obtain a policy for their bikes.
